RE: Faulty Reports of Bankruptcy Information

I have obtained a recent copy of my credit report and discovered it contained an inaccurate report of a Bankruptcy filing. I have contacted the three credit reporting agencies (Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian) by phone and was informed that this information is verified, or has been provided by a third party information collector. I also contacted the Bankruptcy Court of record and was informed by the court clerk’s office that there was NO known attempt to verify or confirm the erroneous information or correct the error. The clerk’s office strongly suggested that I contact your offices with this problem. While this issue may not approach the threshold of Bankruptcy fraud by an individual or business, the practice undermines the entire system if these firms are allowed to publish old, outdated information and inaccurate data beyond the scope of the FCRA. Especially, in matters as dire as Bankruptcy. I am reporting this matter in hopes you will investigate these practices for I have been led to believe this is not at all uncommon and highly dubious.
